This function allows you to make recordings from any audio source (microphone, Hi-Fi system, instrument, amplifier, etc...) connected to your computer. Before starting your recording, you must ensure that your audio source is correctly connected to the appropriate input of your sound card and that you have selected the corresponding control by clicking the "Edit" button next to the recording source.
The buttons in the recording window are similar to those of a standard tape recorder. When recording is in progress, the indicator light illuminates and flashes, and the graph representing the waveform of the recorded sound is displayed.
It is possible to synchronize your recording with the playback of other files opened in Music Mixer by checking the "simultaneous playback" box. The playback of the files then starts automatically when you trigger the recording.
You can change the recording format by clicking on the corresponding "Edit" button. For more information on recording formats, you can refer to the sections Construction of sound files et Size of data in a WAV file.
This function allows you to adjust the volume of each file in real-time during playback and to position the files relative to each other for mixing into a single file. The mixing table window presents a track with two round knobs "Volume" and "Balance" for each open file.
For each track, you can define the start time by directly moving the corresponding graph with the mouse or for a more precise adjustment to the millisecond, by clicking on the "Offset" button.
Once your settings are complete, click on the "Mix All into One File" button to create the final file. The filename must end with the extension ".wav". If you do not specify an extension or a different extension, the program automatically adds the extension ".wav".
You can define the output file format by clicking on the "Format" button. For more information on data formats, you can refer to the sections Construction of sound files et Size of data in a WAV file.
